Really? Mayo?

Last night right before bed, we discovered Levi's artistic crayon work on the hardwood floor in the kitchen. Nice. Well, water won't clean it up because it is wax and you can't use cleaners because it will damage the finish, so I googled it. (What did we ever do before google? Seriously.) A couple links suggested plain ol' mayo. Lather it on, leave it for a few minutes, then wipe it up. Unfortunately, I don't have any before and after pictures but it totally worked! The crayon is completely gone. It works also to just put mayo on a paper towel and wipe at the crayon if they aren't heavy marks. I was so amazed, I just had to post about it. Hope this helps someone out there whose wood floors or furniture have been a canvas for an artistic genius like my little guy!

I'm tempted to write on a hard wood floor just to try it out. I can't believe that. How do people figure these things out? It's like my husband. Our radio cuts out when you take a hard left turn or hit a speed bump. He figured out that if you hit the steering wheel at the 2 o'clock position it comes back on. I would have loved to have been in the car when he was trying to figure that one out!

holy cow! that is totally awesome to know. and another fyi: the most amazing thing to get permanent markers off of walls, glass, floors, etc. is StazOn ink cleaner, found at craft stores. It wipes it off like water and won't damage the finish! :)

Wow I haven't checked your blog out in a little while and you have posted a ton. That is so cool to know about mayo. I'm so glad for you that it worked. Also happy late birthday to Levi. I loved his cake. Were the goal posts made out of kit kats? How did you get them to stick together? It looks like he had a great birthday. Wow, that is totally awesome about the kind people at Walmart. I'm so impressed. The picture of Brinley smiling is adorable. She is so cute.

I shared this tidbit with my classmate during our case discussion of Google and he was really impressed. He was going to go home and try it. (He has several small boys who apparently like to write on wood with crayon too.)
